In Your Name

by Marco Van Geffen

Netherlands, France, Belgium

Synopsis

Ton and Els are ordinary people. They are happy people. People like all of us. They have a job, a house, a place in the world. When Els gets pregnant with their first child, a little girl, it feels like a crown on their happiness. But soon after the child is born, she dies. And this disrupts everything: they both have different ways of grieving, and Els seems to get over the tragedy faster than Ton. She wants to move on, start up her life again. But Ton can’t. For him, Els is going too fast. Ton feels rejected, unloved, as if his grief was being trampled. In Your Name follows him as he crosses the line between an ordinary man and a man able to commit the unbearable: destroy what he loves the most.
